LE CAP MARTIN
The photo book “Le Cap Martin“ consists of photographs taken by me during my stay in Roquebrune Cap Martin, which is a small town in the south of France. The book displays in a narrative, near-documentary form about the life and architecture of this small town in the French Riviera, located between Nice and the Italian border. The small town architecture is a reference in the history of Modern Architecture, which regroups various historical monuments classified under UNESCO Heritage sites. The architecture styles vary between colourful and Haussmannien buildings, which are also influenced by Italian lifestyle and culture. I spent most of my childhood here with my grandparents and my family. This trip to Le Cap Martin and the house was really nostalgic, as I didn't have the chance to visit for over four years. The book opens with coastal views, colourful and elegant buildings and lively interactions of its citizens. It then goes on to focus on a personal view of my childhood house. I aim to bring the viewer on a story telling journey, recording the boat quay, interior design of my grandparent's house, sea side restaurant, with as much care as I record the sea and the details of the surrounding landscapes.
