LE SENS DU PARTAGE
The project, Le sens du partage (the meaning of sharing) , aims to develop my cultural awareness within the field of editorial design and visual identity by exploring the relationship of culture and therapy through food. Having lived in Africa, Europe, and Asia, since my young age I was raised and educated in a multicultural environment. Therefore, having the chance to discover new culture, new languages, new food and new traditions fostered my interest to understand the relationship between culture and food.
Food is a vessel that comforts people by bringing them together and helping them relax. Moreover, food connects people. It is how we express love, it is our cultural heritage. Furthermore, food connects people, but also has a sense of community and merit that is express in the making of a dish. Moreover, sharing food is a democratic statement in which communal pleasure is more important than any individual contribution, and dining has become an ideal vehicle for expressing design’s new humanistic attitude.
Thus, my goal as a visual communication designer,  was to initiate conversations between individuals and allow others to learn, discover and connect with other culture. Hence, after participating in non-profit organization workshops and creating my own, I designed a recipe book. I wanted the readers to travel and understand the relationship between food, love and culture that would be displayed in sophisticated and minimalist manner embracing the familial, comforting and accepting value.
